There has been rampant speculation though that Ray Allen will be joining the Cleveland Cavaliers this season, but don’t thank Jones if he signs with the team. Despite the two going on vacation with their families together in the Caribbean this summer, Allen is not being recruited by Jones.
According to Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel, the duo may have gone on a vacation together but there was no talk of recruitment when Allen and Jones were alone together.
"Jones said he has stayed in contact with Allen, who also has been linked to the Cavaliers.“I don’t recruit guys,” Jones said. “That’s one thing I refuse to do. It’s a decision he has to live with, and I can’t promise him a situation would turn out right or would be the best situation. I talk to Ray, but it’s about family, about life, just to see how he is doing.”"
There were reports that Jones had tried to recruit Allen to the Cavaliers but it appears that everyone is going to let Allen’s decision to play or not be his alone. It’s a nice situation he’d be walking into, but the Cavaliers aren’t a lock to land Ray Allen’s talents this year and he’s no lock to return for a 19th season.
