The career of wide receiver Wes Welker is in doubt after yet another concussion has sidelined him without the regular season even having started yet.

More from Denver Broncos

Don’t tell Welker that though, as he’s to busy trying to get cleared to play again for the Broncos. That won’t happen this week but Welker won’t be away from the team as he recovers. According to the Denver Post, the Broncos have cleared Welker to travel with the team but he won’t be playing in the final preseason game of the summer this week.

"Wes Welker was cleared to fly with the Broncos for their final preseason game against the Dallas Cowboys.Welker has not yet been medically cleared from his concussion to engage in contact, so he won’t play in the game Thursday night at AT&T Stadium. Then again, none of the Broncos’ other projected opening-day starters will play against the Cowboys."

The Broncos won’t be playing many of their starters, but that’s not really relevant to Welker. He simply cannot set foot onto a football field anymore without getting concussed and it’s something that is starting to make it uncomfortable to watch him play. Welker’s skull is made out of mush and his glass brain continues to get cracked and broken with every hit.

With the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge trending worldwide, it’s hard to see that support and then watch Welker try to get cleared to play after suffering yet another concussion knowing another one is more than likely this season.
