King Mo now meets Dustin Jacoby at Bellator 123

‘King Mo’ Muhammad Lawal is now set to meet a second replacement opponent in Dustin Jacoby at Bellator 123. The light heavyweight contest will be held on the main card of the summer series premiere, which is headlined by a Bellator featherweight title fight between champion Pat Curran and challenger Patricio Freire on September 5.

King Mo was originally scheduled to face Tom DeBlass on the card, though the 32 year-old suffered a knee injury, forcing him off the card. DeBlass was then replaced by Bellator newcomer Marcus Sursa, though the 13-8 fighter has been removed from the card and replaced by Dustin Jacoby. The reason for Sursa’s removal hasn’t yet been confirmed.

Dustin Jacoby was scheduled to fight Vinny Magalhaes on August 22, though Magalhaes was forced off the card due to a minor, undisclosed injury and replaced by Lucas Lopes. Jacoby finished Lopes in the first round, making his first MMA appearance in 17 months following a stint in kickboxing, competing most notably for the popular promotion Glory.

He heads into the fight with King Mo with four wins in his last five, but went just 0-2 during his stint in the UFC in 2011-12. The 26 year-old will look to make a big statement by taking out former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion King Mo.

33 year-old Lawal is coming off a closely contested decision loss to former UFC champion ‘Rampage Jackson’ in the main event of Bellator’s inaugural pay-per-view event in May. The loss marks King Mo’s third since joining Bellator, going 4-3 following his success at Strikeforce, where he defeated the likes of Gegard Mousasi and Roger Gracie.
