Purdue is doing anything they can to get bodies into Ross-Ade Stadium this weekend, and let’s be honest about this, they need to. The Boilermakers were miserable last year, stumbling to a 1-11 finish with their only victory coming against 1-AA Indiana State…..by six points.

The Purdue brass has decided to offer free admission for students to Saturday’s noon eastern kickoff against Western Michigan. For those students that already have season tickets, they can get a free pass to a different remaining home game.

Some schools have been trying to up the student population at home games for a while now. The schools want the students in the stands in most places. After all, they are the often the loudest and craziest of the fan base. Most of them are pickled in beer for several hours beforehand, but that is beside the point.  What better way for Purdue to get some noise into the stadium than to invite your whole student body?

Kudos to Purdue for coming up with something exciting. Who wouldn’t want to go to a game for free? That leaves more money to spend on refreshments at the game!

Another great thing Purdue did here was offering it to a game that the Boilermakers could, and should, win.  Western Michigan was also 1-11 last season, with their only win coming against UMass in their first season of FBS football.

This could be another lost season for Purdue. They were dead last in FBS in rushing yards last year, and lost four lineman from that group.  But for one game though, the players will get to know what it feels like playing in front of a stadium full of their own fans.
