The Miami Dolphins closed out the preseason last night with a come from behind victory against the St. Louis Rams. Although the game is meaningless to the upcoming season, head coach Joe Philbin was proud of his team coming back from a 13 point deficit in the final quarter to win the game 14-13.

“I told the guys in the locker room, I thought anytime you come back from 13 points down and win the football game in the fourth quarter it’s a testament to the character of the guys,” head coach Joe Philbin told Dolphins media after the game. “We made some plays in the fourth quarter in all three phases of the game. We really hadn’t really been making a whole lot of plays in the vast majority of the game, but we made some there. I thought it was a good team win.”
The Dolphins rested the majority of the starters, including quarterback Ryan Tannehill and his starting wide receivers. The game was mainly to determine the last few roster spots available before the roster is slimmed down to 53 men this Saturday.
Daniel Thomas, who made his preseason debut for the Dolphins, had a decent outing in a critical game rushing for 38 yards and a touchdown against the Rams second string defense.
With Knowshon Moreno and Lamar Miller secure on the Dolphins roster, Thomas needed a big performance in order to make the team. We will find out tomorrow what his future holds in the Miami Dolphins organization.
The Dolphins open up the regular season at home next weekend against the division rival New England Patriots.
