On Friday night they have a chance to grab three points as ninth-place Houston Dynamo come to town. Despite their position in the standings, second-to-last, Sporting KC isn’t taking the Dynamo lightly.
“I know Dominic very well, and we’re good friends, and I say this all the time: He prepares his team to play well in this league and find success,” Sporting manager Peter Vermes said, via the club’s website. “And they’ve hit a rough patch this year. They’ve had a lot of injuries as well. They’ve been a lot like us. Sometimes you fall on the right side of the ledger, and sometimes you fall on the left side of the ledger.
“But the one thing you can’t do with them: You can’t ever count them out, because they have a lot of good players within their group, and when they start to get a little bit of form, they can go quickly,” Vermes added. “And that’s why you never, never count that team out. They’ve shown it year after year after year, so it’s always a tough game for us to play.”
