Alabama starting quarterback Blake Sims was good not great in the Crimson Tide’s season opener against the West Virginia Mountaineers. He operated as a game manager. He hasn’t yet put the ball in the end zone himself, but he’s led the team to three touchdown drives. And, he’s got one interception.

It’s unclear whether it’s his fault or the receivers fault on this play, but he throws the ball directly to West Virginia’s Darrly Worley. Amari Cooper appears to be the intended receiver. He does a button hook-type route and sits, waiting for the ball. Simms seems to lead him as if he were doing a deep post route.

The good news for Cooper and Sims — they’ve played well otherwise. They’re on pace to get the win.

The bad news, they started out flat — and that means they’re liable to get an earful from the coaches after the game.

Hopefully this won’t be a common site for Sims this season:
