Florida State’s Chris Casher out with ‘academic-related’ issue
In what is considered by many (at least by ESPN’s College Game Day) to be the game of the day, the top-ranked Florida State Seminoles will take on the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Cowboys Classic in Arlington, Texas.

When the two kick-off on Saturday night, the Seminoles will be a little short-handed.
According to a source of Warchant.com, Florida State’s Rivals’ affiliate, the Seminoles will be without starting linebacker/defensive end Chris Casher when they take on the Cowboys because of an “academic-related” issue.
"Starting strongside linebacker Chris Casher, who played in 13 games last season as a redshirt freshman, will not dress for tonight’s Cowboys Classic, a source confirmed to Warchant.com.Casher did not participate in the Seminoles’ final practice in Tallahassee on Thursday. When asked about Casher’s absence, head coach Jimbo Fisher said the sophomore was in class. His absence tonight is also academic-related, according to the source, but it could be resolved as early as this week or next."
Casher made 25 tackles, 5.0 for loss and returned a fumble for a touchdown last season. Unfortunately he is probably best known for his role in the Jameis Winston case – the two were roommates during their first year in Tallahassee. With Casher out of the lineup, the Seminoles could turn to true freshman Jacob Pugh, a highly-touted four-star recruit from Tallahassee (Godby High School).
