The North Carolina Tar Heels entered the fourth quarter of their game with the Liberty Eagles, a game that is considered one of the patsies on their schedule, with a comfortable 20-point lead.

That was not necessarily the case well into the second half of this one, however, as Liberty was giving UNC everything that they could handle and then some. Well into the third quarter of this one, the Eagles were within one score and had a chance to drive and take the lead.

It was at that point that the Tar Heels needed somebody to step up and make a play. As the 22nd ranked team in the country and needing to put this game out of reach so as to avoid an early-season upset, they needed a game-changing type of play.

Lineback Jeff Schoettmer came through with that play with this pick-six to make it a two-score affair.

Schoettmer is coming off a breakout 2013 season in which he recorded 85 tackles and made plays all over the field. Now ready to take on an even bigger role in the middle of the UNC defense, he is off to a great start this season with this impact play to take the heat off the rest of his teammates in their opening game.
