Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith has been looking for more money and he was finally able to cash in on Labor Day Weekend with a big money contract extension from the team.

According to Terez Paylor of the Kansas City Star, Smith and the Chiefs have agreed to a four-year, $68 million contract extension that gives Smith $45 million in guaranteed money.

Smith will now be under contract through the 2018 season.

That’s not a bad haul for the man who was sent away from the San Francisco 49ers to allow Colin Kaepernick to take over the offense.

So how does Smith’s contract stack up against the other big money deals that we have seen in the past few months?

The Chiefs also agreed to a contract extension with star running back Jamaal Charles earlier in the offseason, so now their focus will have to shift to pass rusher Justin Houston.
