DB Champ Bailey ‘fully healthy’ and ‘definitely’ wants to play this season
By Mike Dyce
It was just months ago that defensive back Champ Bailey was playing for the Denver Broncos in the Super Bowl. Now the 12-time Pro Bowler finds himself as a final roster cut as the New Orleans Saints trim their rosters down to 53-men.
Part of the problem could stem to a foot injury that bothered him all summer, a similar injury that kept him out of 11 games last season for the Broncos. To some that might signal the end of an illustrious 15-year career, but Bailey isn’t giving up on the NFL just yet.
“Definitely, and he is fully healthy now,” Bailey’s agent Jack Reale said, via NFL Media. “He had a plantar problem, which is resolved, but he just missed too much time for the coach’s evaluation to be complete and unfortunately in the last two games they didn’t throw at him, so he couldn’t show his stuff. He is fine.”
Some team will give him a chance surely. The New York Jets are thin at cornerback and released cornerback Dimitri Patterson, who they had issues with as the preseason ended and looked like he was going to be slated in to start.
