The relationship between Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and former head coach Jimmy Johnson has always been a mix of love and hate.

More from Dallas Cowboys

You’d think the ‘friendship’ would potentially be getting better considering the two haven’t worked alongside each other in quite some time, though it seems as if the animosity has only grown.

Rumors of Jimmy Johnson being inducted into the Dallas Cowboys’ ‘Ring of Honor’ have been talked about for quite some time which lead to ESPN asking Jones if he’d be willing to put his feelings aside and honor his former coach. Jones didn’t seem overly excited with the idea however, which didn’t sit well with Jimmy Johnson.

Speaking to the Port Arthur News, Johnson suggested that Jerry Jones is nothing more than a ‘rich a**hole‘.

"Van Natta spent last Saturday afternoon at Jimmy’s favorite Key Largo hangout — The Big Chill — hoping for a meeting that never happened. Johnson, however, did have a response after reading the story. “About like I expected,” he e-mailed. “Jerry comes across as a rich asshole.”"

Pretty difficult to disagree there.

Still, there are two sides to every story with the truth somewhere in the middle. Clearly the two don’t have much love for each other and it doesn’t appear a friendship is going to be on the menu at any point in the near future. That said, Jimmy Johnson is an iconic coach and he was at the helm during the Cowboys impressive run during the 1990’s. For that reason alone, liked or not by Jones, he should be included in the Dallas Cowboys’ ‘Ring of Honor’.
