New (and old) Louisville Cardinals’ head coach Bobby Petrino is used to putting up huge numbers on offense. His quarterbacks are usually among the best in the country in terms of putting up big numbers and he doesn’t expect that to change in his second stint with the Cardinals.

That’s likely why 3-Star quarterback Lamar Jackson gave his pledge to the Cardinals. The 6’3, 185-pounder who attends Boynton Beach Community High School in Boynton Beach, Florida made his decision on Sunday.

Mike Hughes of Insider the Ville, a part of 24/7 Sports, has the scoop.

"On the eve of Louisville’s season opener against Miami on national television, Bobby Petrino received a major commitment for his Cardinals program Saturday morning.Lamar Jackson, a 4-star QB from Boynton Beach, Fla, announced his commitment to Louisville via Twitter, which InsideTheVille.com has now confirmed.“Jackson is one of he nation’s elite dual-threats,” 247Sports analyst Ryan Bartow said. “He throws a better ball than most realize and explosive on the zone read. He has elite quickness and live arm.”"

Jackson is ranked as the country’s 12th-best dual-threat quarterback, the 50th-best overall prospect in the state of Florida and the 364th-best overall prospect in the class 2015 according to 24/7 Sports’ composite rankings.

Jackson has an impressive list of offers, including the Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Mississippi State Bulldogs, UCF Knights and West Virginia Mountaineers, among others. Jackson also has an official visit to Nebraska scheduled for September 20.

Jackson is the Cardinals’ 15th commitment in the class of 2015. Their class ranks 41st nationally and 12th in the ACC.
