The NFL is set to open the regular season with their traditional Thursday night launch, and as such, anticipation for the gridiron action is at a fever pitch. As usual, there are several dominant story lines, from the infusion of rookie quarterbacks (none of which are currently starting) like Johnny Manziel, to new head coaches, the returning Super Bowl Champions (hello, Seattle) and the entire Josh Gordon saga. However, the awards races in the NFL don’t often bring a great deal of attention, especially in the early going, and in this space, we will change that.

The league’s “major” awards are up for grabs, and when judging the entire body of work, the early stages of the season are just as important as the play down the stretch. Without further ado, let’s unveil the projected winners, beginning with the always interesting Coach of the Year.
