Since dealing with their second heartbreak in two years when they fell just short of a Super Bowl, losing to the Baltimore Ravens (and a third last season when they lost the NFC Championship Game to the Seattle Seahawks in the final seconds) a year after fumbling away a shot at the Super Bowl in a loss to the New York Giants, the San Francisco 49ers have had plenty of off of the field controversies.

More from NFL

Their head coach, Jim Harbaugh was reportedly close to being “traded” to the Cleveland Browns because of his inability to get long with some in the front office. They have also had to deal with the drinking problem of star pass rusher Aldon Smith and the drama surrounding him – he has been suspended for nine games.

Now, they have another issue to deal with – defensive lineman Ray McDonald has reportedly been arrested for domestic violence.

Damian Trujillo of NBC Bay Area has all of the news on McDonald. According to his source, McDonald’s victim is pregnant. The San Jose Police Department has since confirmed the arrest and he was “busted on same street where Aldon Smith wrecked during DUI.”

Violence of any kind against women should be tolerated and because she is pregnant, it is even worse. With the outrage around Baltimore Ravens’ running back Ray Rice’s two game suspension for a similar charge, the league may make an example out of McDonald.
