Rick Porcello was hot coming into Sunday’s game against the Chicago White Sox, but wasn’t able to get his third straight win after a plethora of errors by the Detroit Tigers led to a 6-2 win for the Sox.

More from Chicago White Sox

White Sox pitcher Jose Quintana won his first game in over a month when he gave up two runs in seven innings leading Chicago over Detroit.

Chicago split the four game series with Detroit when they took advantage of a season high four errors for the Tigers. Adam Eaton doubled twice and scored two runs. Carlos Sanchez had two hits and also scored twice. Former Tiger, Avisail Garcia singled, doubled and drove in two. Jose Abreu extended his hitting streak to 12 games, and the White Sox won after dropping 10 of 12.

Rick Porcello gave up 11 hits in 6.2 innings where he gave up six runs but only three were earned.

Eaton opened a two-run first with a double that bounced off left fielder J.D. Martinez’s glove. He came around on Conor Gillaspie’s two-out single, and Garcia scored from third when shortstop Eugenio Suarez dropped the ball trying to flip it to second after fielding a grounder by Dayan Viciedo.

Two more errors by Detroit left them trailing Chicago big.

First baseman Don Kelly, who was subbing in for injured super star Miguel Cabrera, let Sanchez’s grounder go off of his foot as Leury Garcia scored from third, and third baseman Nick Castellanos let Abreu’s grounder go under his glove as he tried to backhand it for an error. That brought in Eaton, and Avisail Garcia followed with an RBI single to make it 5-0.

Detroit trails Kansas City by a half game in the AL Centrak after the loss. Kansas City is riding a three game losing streaking into tonight’s game against the Cleveland Indians.
