Herschel Walker says Georgia’s Todd Gurley is best RB in college
Todd Gurley had a smashing opening week for the Georgia Bulldogs as he set a new program record with 293 all-purpose yards to break Rodney Hampton’s record and if he has more weeks like that this season, he could break some of Herschel Walker’s school records.

Walker is the best running back in program history and also a big fan of the 230-pound workhorse running back who vaulted to the top of the Heisman discussion with 198 rushing yards and three touchdown runs, but his 100-yard kickoff return had everyone talking about his unrivaled skills.
"“Every time he touches the ball,” Walker said, “you’re looking for something to happen. Todd is the best running back in college football. Right now, you can’t argue that point.”"
Can Gurley be the first player since Walker to win the Heisman for Georgia?
He may be the best running back in college football, but that position has not been very popular among Heisman voters with quarterbacks winning every award since Mark Ingram won for Alabama in 2009. Before Ingram won in 2009, it was Reggie Bush who won in 2005 and before him the last running back to win the Heisman was Ron Dayne in 1999.
The odds may not be in his favor, but at least we know he has one voter he can count on and that being Walker who won the award in 1982 and should have won in 1980 as a true freshman.
Georgia travels to take on South Carolina in two weeks as they look to improve to 2-0 on the season and drop the Gamecocks to 0-2 on the season.
