It looked Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant, and reigning league MVP, was headed to Under Armour after they extended an offer some where between $265 million and $285 million. Nike stepped up to the plate to match the offer.
Originally Nike had offered Durant somewhere in the range of $20 million a year, as his seven-year deal that guaranteed Durant $60 million was set to expire. After Under Armour’s offer, the pressure was on and forced Nike’s hand.
Durant’s on-court rival LeBron James, who just returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers this year after a four-year stint with the Miami Heat, approves of the deal and is thrilled to have him with Nike. James sent Durant a congratulatory Tweet:

Durant is also thrilled:
Excited and humbled to sign back with the swoosh!
