The opening weekend of the 2014 college football season is almost over, but before we look forward to Week 2, there is a huge Monday night match up in the ACC between the Miami Hurricanes and the newcomers to the conference, the Louisville Cardinals.

Miami is coming off a rather disappointing season in 2013, although it didn’t begin like that. The Hurricanes got off to a 7-0 start in 2013 before they went on a trip to Florida State, where they were blown out. From there, the wheels fell off and they more or less backed their way into a Russell Athletic Bowl match up against this same team they’re facing on Monday. They were blown out by the Cards in the one, too.
Louisville will be making their ACC debut on Monday night, but while they will have a familiar face at the helm as head coach, as this game will mark the return of Bobby Petrino as head coach for his second stint with the program. After Charlie Strong left to accept the position at Texas, the school’s search led them back to Petrino, in hopes that he can keep the program trending upward.
