The Miami Dolphins and New England Patriots are set to start the season against each other in Miami on Sunday. The teams will face off for only the fourth time on opening weekend. The Dolphins have only won one time in that series. The last time the two teams faced each other to kick off the season was in 2011 on Monday Night Football.

This weekends match-up will be featured on ESPN Radio nationally so if you can’t get the game on the television or can’t go to a local bar who carries the Sunday NFL Ticket, ESPN has you covered. You of course will need to check locally to see who broadcasts the networks radio shows. ESPN Radio is also available for free via mobile device applications.

The last opening meeting between the two clubs cam on the aforementioned Monday night game in 2011. The Dolphins currently are second in opening day victories with 11 that spanned 1992 to 2002. The Dallas Cowboys hold the record with 17 opening weekend victories. Ironically, the Patriots will open this season with the longest current streak of 10 and can tie the Dolphins with a victory for second.

From 1976-88, a span of 13 seasons the Dolphins opened their season on the road. This weekends game will mark the first time since 2008 that the Dolphins will open a home game at home on Sunday. The last being against the New York Jets.

This weekend the Patriots are expected to be favorites to win their 11th consecutive home game. The kick-off is at 1:00 p.m. Marc Kestecher and Louis Riddick will have the call for ESPN Radio.
