The Buffalo Bills are set to start their 2014 season and internal distraction may be a cause for concern and could derail the season before it gets started. According to Jason La Canfora the Bills head coach is having issues with the teams executive management.

La Canfora says that the incident occurred prior to the teams final cuts and began initially with Marrone and personnel man Jim Monos, who have a history, shouting expletives at each other. The exchange was so loud that it attracted the attention of the teams general manager Doug Whaley who tried to stop it. He didn’t and Russ Brandon who has been managing the team since Ralph Wilson passed away. Brandon began yelling to all parties to “Shut Up”.

That escalated further and Whaley and Marrone needed to be separated. All this occurring within site and earshot of the teams players.

One person told La Canfora that Marrone was yelling “go ahead and fire me” at Whaley.

The Bills will travel to Chicago on Sunday in a very tough contest. Internal strife will not make the trip any easier. Part of the issues appear to be over the use of personnel. Many in the organization are beginning to question Marrone’s choices of who is playing more and less. While tension and internal arguments are not uncommon, on the practice field in front of players is. This isn’t the first such clash and La Cafora says that Marrone has had issues with players as well.

It’s the reference to Saint Marrone that gets you to shake your head.

"Sources said Marrone has referred to himself as “Saint Doug” at times, referencing the fact that it takes two miracles to be canonized as a saint, and that he already pulled off one miracle by winning at Syracuse and alluding to the fact it would take another miracle to win in Buffalo."
