Things were no different on Saturday afternoon as the 13th-ranked Cardinal played host to the 14th-ranked Trojans.
Offense was hard to find for the Trojans throughout the game and although the Cardinal were able to pile up over 400 yards of total offense, they stalled once they got into USC territory on several occasions.
Neither team scored a touchdown in the second half and the two squads were tied at 10 in the final minutes. On fourth-and-five from the Stanford 36, it looked like the Trojans were going to attempt to convert but after a timeout, they instead decided to bring veteran kicker Andre Heidari to attempt a 53-yard field goal. Heidari knocked the kick right through the uprights with 2:30 to play. The Cardinal drove into Trojans’ territory again but a strip sack of Kevin Hogan ended any hope for the Cardinal, giving the Trojans the 13-10 victory.
