Brandon Marshall thinks Patriots should be ‘Americas Team’
An already-storied franchise, the Dallas Cowboys experienced their golden years in the 1990s.

Behind the arm of Troy Aikman, hands of Michael Irvin, and legs of Emmitt Smith, the Cowboys were able to win 3 Super Bowls in a span of four seasons (’92, ’93, ’95), adding to the two the franchise collected in 1971 and 1977. This dominance forced the Cowboys into the title of being Americas team.
Since then, the franchise has struggled to replicate any success and this has forced many to clamor for a removal of the title. And Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall agrees with the notion, but instead of removing the title in full, he thinks the New England Patriots should step into the Cowboys place.
If dominance and championships are the requirement for the title, the Patriots surely fit the bill. Since the 2001 season, New England has won 10+ games 12 times (went 16-0 in the regular season in 2008), won the AFC East division 11 times, appeared in 5 Super Bowls and won 3–they were the last team to repeat as NFL champions (’03, ’04).
Outside of team dominance, both Tom Brady and Bill Belichick have dominated their respective positions–Brady has won 2 league MVPs and 2 Super Bowl MVPs while Belichick was won three Coach of the Year awards).
The nickname is far from official, so it’s up to the individual to decide whom they want to proclaim Americas team. The Patriots fit the title.
Even the Cowboys fit the title, though they represent the meaning in a completely different manner nowadays.
