Both Phoenix Suns’ guard Eric Bledsoe and Detroit Pistons’ big man Greg Monroe were restricted free agents that simply couldn’t get what they wanted in free agency. Monroe has signed his qualifying offer in order to become an unrestricted free agent next year while Bledsoe remains on the market.

Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders believes Bledsoe will eventually sign his qualifying offer in order to control his future much like Monroe did.

"Greg is far from locked up… he has simply taken control of his future. I think you’ll see Bledsoe do the same thing in Phoenix. As soon as you sign your offer, its over, so why close the door until you have to."

Of course, Bledsoe is at a bigger disadvantage. Not only is his qualifying offer worth about $2 million less than but Bledsoe has a history of injuries (he was limited to just 43 games last season) and if he is hurt again, he could see his value decrease greatly in the next year.

Bledsoe averaged 17.7 points, 5.5 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 47.7% from the field, 35.7% from beyond the arc and 77.2% from the free throw line last season. The 18th-overall pick of the 2010 NBA Draft has put up 8.7 points, 3.4 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 44.5% from the floor, 32.7% from three and 75.9% from the charity stripe. Monroe put up 15.2 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 49.7% from the field and 65.7% from the free throw line last season. Monroe, who was the seventh-overall pick in the first round of the 2010 draft, has averaged 14.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 50.8% from the floor and 67.8% from the foul line.
