While the Phoenix Suns still attempt to figure out what’s going to happen with restricted free agent Eric Bledsoe, it appears they already know what will happen with Goran Dragic at season end.

More from NBA

Dragic, who has a $7.5 million dollar player option for the 2015-16 season, was speaking to a collection of media during the FIBA World Cup and stated that he plans to opt-out of his contract with the Phoenix Suns after the season. Such was a worry of the Suns organization (likely why they signed Isaiah Thomas as insurance), though fear not as Dragic says he plans to quickly re-sign with the Suns after he opts-out.

“Got a very interesting position with the club. Guess I’ll break the contract and sign a new one,” Dragic said. “As I spoke [to the Suns], I immediately during the first week, when the market opens, sign and I will therefore be calm.”

Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard a player suggest they are going to opt-out of their contract and re-sign, only to end up signing elsewhere in free agency. That said, Goran Dragic seems rather trustworthy and appears to enjoy playing for the Phoenix Suns so it seems difficult to suggest he’d spurn them. Still, when a lucrative contract offer is sitting on the table from another team, that’s difficult to turn down.

Phoenix has shown significant interest in signing Goran Dragic’s brother, Zoran, which could be a negotiating ploy on their half as Goran has expressed interest in playing with his brother.
