It’s been quite an offseason for Alonzo Gee who seemingly can’t stay in one place more than a month or two.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

Traded multiple times, Alonzo Gee was recently acquired by the Sacramento Kings who plan to release the forward in the near future. Assuming such does take place, Gee will be placed on waivers and the Los Angeles Lakers may have interest.

That’s the word from Basketball Insiders who hints Gee’s prior relationship with head coach Byron Scott could be in play.

"Word is Alonzo is great shape and ready to play, and will be looking for a chance to log minutes.A team to keep an eye on is the LA Lakers. Gee had his best seasons in the NBA under head coach Byron Scott and the Lakers have a real need at the small forward spot."

The Los Angeles Lakers have worked out Michael Beasley on two occasions, so needless to say they’re obviously interested in adding depth to their small forward position. That’s something Alonzo Gee would provide and he brings a better all-around game in comparison to Beasley, though isn’t nearly the scorer.

Also working against Alonzo Gee is his height as at 6’6, he’s a bit undersized to play the small forward position. That said, he can play above the rim so his lack of size isn’t something that should be too much of a concern for the Lakers front office.

If Gee does clear waivers, he should come relatively cheap though given his already limited salary, Los Angeles might be best served picking him up off waivers if they’re truly interested.
