The Los Angeles Lakers are actually looking like they may bounce back this year and contend for the postseason as Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash and Jeremy Lin may give the Western Conference a scare.

More from Los Angeles Lakers

There is significant work that needs to be done though before the Lakers are true title contenders again, but this season might not b as bad as many are expecting. Steve Nash being healthy could have something to do with that too, as new head coach Byron Scott noted on Wednesday that the veteran is healthy and training hard in the gym.

Despite this though, Scott isn’t willing to commit to Nash as the starter for the 2014-15 season.

Nash would be competing with Jeremy Lin for the starting role and even though Lin wasn’t the sole starter in Houston, it’s been a while since Lin-sanity struck the NBA. Still, Nash is in his final year in the NBA and the youth of Lin is enough to make him starter.

But having Nash healthy is all the Lakers need out of him as it’s been a while since we’ve seen the flash that we all love out the Canadian hoopster, and hopefully his final year int he game is one of his best.
