It’s been a very strange offseason for free agent point guard Ramon Sessions.

More from NBA

Sessions isn’t a vaulted playmaker nor is he much of a defender, but the pint-sized point can certainly put the ball in the bucket. Given that, Sessions has drawn a significant amount of interest this offseason yet remains without a contract.

Such could be changing in the relatively near future however as Basketball Insiders hints Sessions is believed to nearing an agreement.

"A couple of teams have been trying to secure Sessions before camp and word is he may be closing in on a deal."

The Houston Rockets were said to be the most interested suitor in Ramon Sessions this offseason, though recently acquired Jason Terry in a trade with the Sacramento Kings. Given that, it doesn’t seem as if the Rockets would still be attempting to sign Sessions though you never really know with Houston general manager Daryl Morey.

Outside of the Rockets, the Charlotte Hornets and Chicago Bulls were also said to have interest in the former Nevada guard earlier this summer though they have both filled out their roster. Given that, it seems likely that Sessions’ name will come off the free agent board in the coming days though where exactly he’ll land is currently unknown.

He’s by no stretch a difference maker, though he could very well be the best available free agent on the market outside of Michael Beasley. Add in that he’s likely to come on a relatively cheap contract and Ramon Sessions could prove to be a free agent steal.
