T-Mobile announces Wi-Fi calling for all
Just Tuesday, Apple unveiled the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. One of the larger features of the phone was the fact that the iPhone 6 would enable Wi-Fi calling. When using Wi-Fi, phone calls would be transmitted over wireless internet rather than through a cell phone tower. T-Mobile has taken that principle and expanded upon it.

Now, T-Mobile will allow every single customer the ability to use Wi-Fi calling and texting for free, with no damage to their data or minutes.
This also means that customers with T-Mobile will be able to make HD voice calls whether they are using a Wi-Fi connection or one of T-Mobile’s towers. They would also be able to travel between the two access points without any disruption in service, Furthermore, coverage would be expanded for areas not highly covered by T-Mobile’s LTE network.
In making this change take place, every new phone sold by T-Mobile will come with Wi-Fi calling and texting already enabled into the phone itself. Since this feature must be enabled by manufacturers themselves, older phones may be left out in the cold.
However, thanks to T-Mobile’s Jump program, the company is allowing all customers to trade in their phones for a Wi-Fi enabled device or a Wi-Fi enabled headset.
T-Mobile competes in the same consumer space as Sprint, and the company continues to put its best foot forward. With the new unveiling of Wi-Fi calling and texting, T-Mobile continues to push forward ahead of Sprint due to a more competitive pricing structure and staying at the front of innovation.
