Greer was released by the New Orleans Saints in February after tearing his ACL in November. After getting no offers that suited him from NFL teams, he announced on ESPN’s SportsCenter that he will provide analysis and commentary for all things NFL for the network.
Since he was always considered undersized for an NFL corner, Greer went undrafted out of the University of Tennessee in the 2004 NFL draft, but signed as a free agent with the Buffalo Bills.
Greer played in 12 games with the Bills in 2004, and became a starter for them by the 2007 season.
He signed as a free agent with the Saints before the 2009 season, and played a pivotal role in the Saints Super Bowl win that season.
60 of his 86 NFL starts came with the Saints from 2009-13. He was released in order to clear cap space this spring, despite only being 32 years old.
Greer started 86 NFL games, and appeared in 133 over his ten year career. He recorded 413 total tackles, 13 interceptions, four of those returned for touchdowns, two sacks, and two forced fumbles.
It is not clear whether Greer retired because of his knee or just because he was ready to be done, but at any rate, our only Jabari Greer sightings this year will come on ESPN.
