When asked about the status of talks, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said it wasn’t a priority at the moment.
“We are certainly concentrating on several other things,” Jones said in an interview with 105.3 The Fan on Friday morning, via the team’s website. “That’s there – that’s not hard to be thinking about as we move along through the season, but I really don’t think that it’s a priority, a daily priority, as opposed to getting ready to play in Nashville or getting ready to play a football game in the season.”
Well Jones certainly has his hands and legal team full dealing with another issue. Focusing on winning should be a priority for the Cowboys as a whole anyways.
Jones has previously said that he wasn’t worried about the contract because he could always slap Dez Bryant with the franchise tag to prevent him from leaving if a deal couldn’t be worked out beforehand.
