With the Minnesota Vikings taking matters into their own hands, former NFL MVP Adrian Peterson will not play in Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots after being indicted on charges of child abuse.

Now Peterson could be receiving punishment from the NFL as Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk reports the league has begun reviewing Peterson’s actions that led to him being arrested

From ProFootballTalk:

"The NFL has confirmed that Adrian Peterson, who was indicted on a charge of injury to a child for striking his 4-year-old son, could be disciplined under the league’s personal-conduct policy.“This will be reviewed under the NFL’s personal conduct policy,” the league said in a brief statement."

With the league under fire because of how they handled Ray Rice’s domestic abuse case, it’s going to be interesting to see how the NFL and Roger Goodell handle Peterson’s ordeal and, most importantly, what type of punishment Peterson receives because of his actions.

It was the two-game suspension for Ray Rice that set off a wave of public criticism. Peterson’s case is unprecedented when it comes to child abuse, but with the photos and reports of Peterson’s actions against his four-year old son revealed, fans and detesters alike while hope the punishment matches the crime.
