While Atlanta Hawks general manager Danny Ferry is likely out of a job (currently on an indefinite leave of absence) due to racist comments regarding Luol Deng, might the scouting report in question have come from another source?

More from Cleveland Cavaliers

That’s the belief of Ohio.com who suggests the racist comments regarding Luol Deng seemingly can be traced back to the Cleveland Cavaliers organization.

"A racially charged comment uttered by Atlanta Hawks General Manager Danny Ferry regarding Luol Deng seems to trace back to the Cavaliers organization, according to the scouting report obtained Friday by the Atlanta Journal Constitution."

For what it’s worth, Danny Ferry has suggested that he was simply reading a scouting report and that seems to jive with Ohio.com‘s suggestion that it came from elsewhere. Deng most recently played for the Cleveland Cavaliers before entering free agency.

"The report is labeled as coming from a 2013-14 Front Office and the word “Former” is legible, but the rest of the name and title is blacked out. The report begins “From a physical when we got him, Chicago had run him into the ground. We tried to correct and manage it when we got him. People say that he is worn down but I disagree and think there is more left in his body.”"

Ferry is of course a former general manager of the Cleveland Cavaliers franchise, though was not there in 2013-14 when this report was alleged to have been written.

It still remains a case of ‘who done it’ and while Ferry may have not actually written the report, it certainly doesn’t clean his slate considering he should have known better than to have echoed such a sentiment.
