Gus Malzahn and the Auburn Tigers have weekly “manhood sessions” to educate players on off-the-field issues, including domestic violence, he said while appearing as a guest on CBS Saturday.

More from College Football

Domestic violence has been in the news this week with the Baltimore Ravens releasing running back Ray Rice and the NFL suspending him indefinitely after video was revealed showing the former Pro Bowl running back puching his then-fiancee in the face.

Malzahn has stressed respecting women and making sure each and every one of his players are aware of the expectations at Auburn.

"“You’ve got to be up front, you’ve got to educate them,” Malzahn said. “We have manhood sessions once a week. It’s really character devleopment. One of our topics is respecting women. We get very to the point and that’s our expectations at Auburn.”"

Malzahn was asked if there was a zero tolerance policy by host Adam Zucker and his players are very understanding of the rules to which Malzahn responded: “Oh, yes. No doubt.”

Hopefully no such instance occurs at Auburn or anywhere else after the black cloud that has hung over the NFL for the past week in the wake of the Rice domestic violence case brought light to how ugly of a situation this truly is.
