Ian Kinsler delivers go-ahead home run (GIF)

The Detroit Tigers are doing everything they can to hold onto their lead in the American League Central and stay out of the fray that is the American League Wild Card race.

In their series against the Cleveland Indians this weekend, those efforts have required the Tigers to make some comebacks in the late innings. On Saturday night the Tigers were able to make a comeback thanks to a late home run from catcher Alex Avila. In Sunday’ series finale they found themselves behind late once again, and once again they had a player come through in a key spot with a clutch home run.
This time it was Ian Kinsler who delivered a go-ahead home run.
The Tigers entered play on Sunday with a 0.5 game lead over the Kansas City Royals in the American League Central. By pulling out a 6-4 win over the Indians, thanks in large part to Kinsler’s home run, they ensured that they will end the week in first place. There is still a lot of season to go, but this home run set the Tigers up for one of their most important wins of the season.
