Bad news for the Washington Redskins. Completing a pass to receiver DeSean Jackson, Robert Griffin III, or RGIII, landed awkwardly on the sideline, causing him to go down with what appears to be a leg injury.

Here is another angle of Griffin’s injury.

Following removal from the field, Griffin was seen wiping his eyes from years as the team carted him to the lockerroom.

As with any injury, this is awful news for the Washington Redskins. Due to a history of leg injuries, watching Griffin go down on a non-contact injury causes one to embrace for the worst. With Griffin, the Redskins were expected to threaten the reigning NFC East champions in the Philadelphia Eagles for the division crown, but if Griffin’s injury is a long-term issue, the team could be looking at another non-playoff season, later accompanied with a early first-round draft pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.

With each injury to Griffin, one can’t help but think on what occurred during Griffin’s rookie season when his health was put at jeopardy by then-head coach Mike Shanahan in a playoff game. Since then, Griffin’s injury have been constant and his play has regressed because of them.

Prior to injury, Griffin III was driving the ‘Skins down the field for a potential score, throwing 38 yards on 2-of-3 passing attempts.

With Griffin being carted off, reserve Kirk Cousins was placed at quarterback, immediately throwing a touchdown to give the Redskins a 7-0 lead over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

When more news is released on Griffin’s injury, we’ll be sure to update with the latest information.
