The San Francisco 49ers collapsed hard against the Chicago Bears on Sunday night, blowing a double-digit lead to lose 28-20 in their home opener.

More from Chicago Bears

One of the reasons for the loss was Colin Kapernick throwing two massive interceptions late in the game that stunted and killed potential drives that could have resulted in points. at one point, Kaepernick was tapped on the chest by a Bears player in a sarcastic manner, resulting in words from the Niners quarterback and a flag for language.

Kaepernick said after the game that the flag he got for saying something he shouldn’t have was given to him despite the fact he said nothing wrong.

"“I didn’t say anything,” Kaepernick said, via Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News, when asked what caused the flag.Asked again if he used a slur, Kaepernick said “No.” Asked if he was shocked referee Carl Cheffers announced a penalty for inappropriate language, Kaepernick replied: “Yes.”"

There might be additional punishment for Kaepernick coming his way after this as questioning the officials is a big no-no in the NFL. Still, this is the type of penalty that can only be confirmed by audio and while some players are mic’d up each Sunday, not everyone is which makes this a he-said-she-said penalty to end all others.
