When the Florida Gators and Alabama Crimson Tide square off on Saturday in a crossover SEC showdown it will feature one of the best individual matchups we will see all season long between Florida cornerback Vernon Hargreaves and Alabama receiver Amari Cooper.

More from College Football

Hargreaves was one of the league’s best corners last year as a true freshman and was named a preseason All-American by virtually every publication and website. Cooper is breaking Alabama records it seems with every game he plays this season.

Cooper moved up the ranks for all-time receptions, yards and touchdowns in the Tide’s dominating performance against Southern Miss that saw Cooper haul in eight passes from Blake Sims for his fifth straight 100-yard game, tying the record held by DJ Hall.

That type of production would normally have opposing defensive backs a bit worried about the battle, but not Hargreaves who is excited for the opportunity to go against a great player like Cooper.

"“I’m excited about the matchup,” Hargreaves said via GatorBait. “Obviously everybody knows what’s coming. Obviously I’m going to be covering him, but you know I’m excited for it.”“Coop, he’s a great player. We talked a little bit (on Twitter), we both knew this was coming. He’s excited, I’m excited, we both know the magnitude of the game, and it’s going to be a great matchup on Saturday.”"

Through two games, quarterbacks haven’t had much success throwing at Hargreaves as he has only allowed two catches for a total of 16 yards on nine targets. He has more than twice as many pass deflections (5) than he has catches allowed.

Who do you think wins the individual matchup on Saturday?
