Miami Dolphins re-sign Daniel Thomas
Not only did the Miami Dolphins fall to 1-1 by losing to the AFC East rival Buffalo Bills yesterday, they also lost key offseason acquisition Knowshon Moreno due to a gruesome elbow injury. To fill the vacated spot left by Moreno, the Dolphins have decided to re-sign former second round pick Daniel Thomas according to the Miami Herald.

With Moreno expected to be out 4-8 weeks after sustaining the dislocated elbow, and Lamar Miller being hobbled by an ankle injury late in the game yesterday, the Dolphins opted to re-sign Thomas instead of moving forward with Damien Williams and Orleans Darkwa as the two primary backs.
Thomas was cut by the Dolphins this offseason after missing the first three preseason games due to injury and failing to impress in the fourth and final preseason game. Although Damien Williams and Orleans Darkwa made the team in spite of Thomas, the Dolphins clearly are hesitant to give either of the aforementioned men significant playing time just yet.
Considering that Thomas knows the offense, he could become an instant playmaker for the Dolphins if given the chance in the coming weeks. Although his career numbers are nowhere near impressive, Thomas has shown time and again he can be a serviceable running back alongside other players.
The Dolphins beat the Patriots in Week 1 thanks in large part to a sensational game from Knowshon Moreno and the offensive line. Against the Bills and without Knowshon, the Dolphins could only muster 80 rushing yards the entire game. It will be interesting moving forward to see how the Dolphins running game does without Moreno in the backfield.
