Although the Orlando Magic have continued to ship out talented veterans and have won just 43 games since dealing Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers in a four-team trade in 2012, there have been a few bright spots.

One of those bright spots is forward Tobias Harris. The Magic acquired Harris just before the 2013 trade deadline in a deal that sent guard J.J. Redick to the Milwaukee Bucks. Now, Harris is eligible for a contract extension before the October 31 deadline. He has made it clear he wants to remain with the Magic.

“Obviously, I want to be here. … I love the fans, the city of Orlando and the guys. Management knows I want to be here. It’s the perfect situation for me,” Harris told Brian Schmitz of The Orlando Sentinel when asked about playing with the Magic beyond the 2014-2015 season.

Harris was then asked if the Magic would let him hit restricted free agency.

“I don’t know. That’s up to them,” Harris said.

Harris obviously wants security now but may be better off testing the market, signing an offer sheet and seeing if the Magic want to match.

Harris put up 14.6 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game while shooting 46.4% from the field, 25.4% from beyond the arc and 80.7% from the charity stripe. In his career, he’s averaged 10.8 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game while shooting 46.1% from the floor, 28.0% from three and 79.1% from the free throw line.
