Two and a half years since his ACL injury, Derrick Rose finally seems recovered and ready to make a return to the NBA. He played 10 games at the beginning of last season, but another knee injury forced him back to the bench. This summer, Rose helped Team USA win the gold medal at the FIBA World Cup.

While he didn’t put up particularly great numbers as he struggled to make shots, we saw flashes of quickness and of someone who is confident heading into the upcoming NBA season.

During his live chat, Steve Kyler of basketballinsiders.com was asked if he was concerned about Rose’s ability to return to an All-Star level.

"“No. I think his role was smaller. The system was different. He’ll find his way. What I saw was a guy moving really well. Attacking without hesitation, exploding off of both legs and a second gear few on the planet can stay with. His shooting will come to him. His timing will come to him. Playing with his guys and in his system will help a lot too. There is more he needs to show, but what I saw was what I wanted to know.”"

In three games, Rose averaged 5.3 points per game, shooting 36 percent, 1.75 assists, 2.3 rebounds and 1.5 turnovers per game. Starting just one of the four tournament games and averaging 19.3 minutes per contest, Rose wasn’t particularly relied upon as much as other guards James Harden, Stephen Curry or Kyrie Irving.

For the Chicago Bulls, however, Rose will be. With LeBron James, Irving and Kevin Love creating a brand new trio in the East on the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Bulls will need Rose’s offensive fire power. Right now, the Bulls and Cavs are considered the top of the Eastern Conference. Chicago sports its always-great defense while the Cavaliers promise to deliver a high-powered offense. Rose at his All-Star level could tip the balance of power in the way of the Bulls.
