A few days after the deal was announced, the Houston Rockets and Sacramento Kings are expected to finalize the trade that’d send shooting guard Jason Terry to Houston.

Breaking down the specifics, in return for Jason Terry, the Sacramento Kings received Alonzo Gee and two second-round picks as well as a non-guaranteed contract player who has yet to be named.

After a season to forget (Terry was traded to Kings after 35 games with the Brooklyn Nets; Terry would never play a game with the Kings), Terry could prove to be extremely useful to this Houston Rockets team who hopes to compete for a NBA championship in the immediate future.

The best-case scenario would be for Terry to play up to the standards of his 2012-13 season where he averaged 10.1 points on 43 percent shooting (37 percent from three), 2.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assist per game. This would allow him to fully replace what the Rockets lost when they traded Jeremy Lin (and a first-round pick) to the Los Angeles Lakers in a salary dump when they attempted to sign then-free agent Chris Bosh to a max deal.

Worst-case scenario would be Terry turns into a trade chip at the deadline. This season, Terry will earn $5.8 million on an expiring deal–this could interest suitors in the open market.

Jason Terry turned 37 on September 15th.
