With the off-season pretty much over and the regular season nearing closer, it has officially become player ranking season. And with player ranking season comes “NBA player reacting to player ranking season,” with none other than Washington Wizards point guard John Wall kicking things off.

In a top-100 ranking posted by Sports Illustrated, Wall came in at #31 which caused the 2014 NBA All-Star to respond via Twitter.

Here is what SI writer Ben Golliver had to say about Wall in the description attached to the ranking:

"That Wall led the league in turnovers remains his biggest need for development, but he attacks defenses with such speed and relentlessness that it’s an excusable reality rather than a crisis. The next-level physical tools have always been in place for Wall, meaning that his already high ceiling simply gets that much higher as he continues to refine his all-around game. Two or three more seasons like last year, and Wall just might be a major player in the debate over the league’s top point guard."

Coming off a career year where Wall averaged 19.3 points, 8.7 assists, and 1.8 steals per game and was arguably the best point guard in the Eastern Conference (only Kyle Lowry can make claim to the spot), it’s reasonable for Wall to be angry despite player rankings being arbitrary and completely opinionated.

For the sake of Wizards fans, they’ll hope Wall turns this added motivation into another career year. With the Washington Wizards making a healthy leap last season, many expect the franchise to do the same now that Wall, Bradley Beal, NeNe, and Marcin Gortat had a full season together.

With the East a bit open, the Wizards could shock many in the playoffs… and that could rely on Wall’s improvement as a point guard.
