The penalty came after Bears cornerback Kyle Fuller intercepted Kaepernick’s pass at the start of the first quarter.
According to the Chicago-Tribune, Bears defensive end Lamar Houston and Kaepernick exchanged words, but Houston says he didn’t hear anything.
“I said, ‘Nice pass,’ ” Houston told the Tribune.
After Houston said that, he says that Kaepernick didn’t say anything, but then was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct.
“The player that I supposedly said something to has been quoted saying I didn’t say anything,” Kaepernick told reporters Wednesday. “And I don’t know him, so it’s not like he would have a reason to just randomly stick up for me.”
The Bears took the lead just one play after the interception on a Jay Cutler touchdown pass to Martellus Bennett. The Bears went on to win the game 28-20.
Kaepernick was fined over $11,000 for words he may have never said. Just remember, Antonio Brown was fined only $8,200 for this drop kick on an innocent Cleveland Browns punter.
