Nearly any team would welcome a veteran rim protector who they could probably get on the cheap. That, of course, doesn’t come easy. There are a few players who could fill that role and one of them is veteran center Emeka Okafor.

According to Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders, a “number of teams” have spoken to Okafor and his camp.

"Last I heard, a number of teams had reached out to Okafor’s camp to express interest but it sounds like he won’t be available for another few weeks since he’s reportedly still dealing with some neck issues. He could be someone that joins a team after the start of the season."

Because of his injuries, he may not join a team until January, which may be the best thing for him. He will likely sign with a contender who will want him healthy in the postseason.

Okafor played in every game during the 2012-2013 season but missed the entire 2012-2013 season, but did not play in a game last year. During the 2012-2013 season, he went for 9.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.0 blocks per game while shooting 47.7% from the field and 57.1% from the free throw line. In his career, he’s averaged 12.3 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting 51.2% from the field and 58.4% from the charity stripe. Okafor was selected with the number two overall pick in the first round of the 2004 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets (then-Bobcats). He played for the Suns (well, kind of – he never appeared in a game), Bobcats and New Orleans Hornets (Pelicans).
