No, Carlos Boozer has never been much of a defensive force. Given that, the Los Angeles Lakers knew when they signed the power forward they weren’t getting a rim protector.

That said Carlos Boozer has proven himself to be a very talented player in the past (especially on the offensive end) and while he’s struggled with the Chicago Bulls in recent memory, Inside So Cal believes the former Duke product will have something to prove.

Given that, the hope is that Carlos Boozer will return to form and be the reliable post player he once was.

"Boozer will likely enter this season with something to prove. It wasn’t too long ago that Boozer played on the 2008 U.S. Olympic team, made two All-Star appearances and became a regular fixture among the Lakers’ playoff opponents. The Lakers are excited for picking up such a player off waivers for only $3.25 million.….That should give Boozer plenty of fuel when he plays for the Lakers, who are already motivated enough after fielding skepticism about their rebuilding after finishing last season with the worst record in L.A. franchise history."

More than that, Carlos Boozer is going to have to play to keep his job. Los Angeles Lakers head coach Byron Scott has already stated that rookie Julius Randle could penetrate the starting lineup if he is to outplay Boozer, however that simply could have been nothing more than a motivational tactic on the part of Scott.

Regardless, there’s plenty of reason for Carlos Boozer to be inspired this season. Hopefully he’s able to play at the high level the Los Angeles Lakers expect from him.
