Kansas City Chiefs vs. Miami Dolphins

The 0-2 Kansas City Chiefs head down to sweltering South Florida to take on the 1-1 Miami Dolphins at Sun Life Stadium this Sunday. Ryan Tannehill will need better protection from his offensive line if he hopes to continue hooking up with Mike Wallace and lead the Dolphins to their second home win of the season. The Chiefs, without Jamaal Charles, will rely on sophomore running back Knile Davis to carry the load against an injury plagued Dolphins linebacking corps en route to their first win of 2014.

Keys to Victory

Miami Dolphins: Coming off a tough loss against the Buffalo Bills in which the offensive line was exposed, the Dolphins need to stop the endless pressure that comes from Tamba Hali and Justin Houston on Sunday. If Ryan Tannehill is not given time in the pocket, the Dolphins will not be able to establish a rhythm and it could be a long day for the third year quarterback.

The Dolphins running game was essentially vanquished last week as both Knowshon Moreno and Lamar Miller were injured. We know that Moreno will be out for about a month, but there is still no word as to whether or not Miller will play this weekend. If he can’t go, the Dolphins need Damian Williams and recently signed Daniel Thomas to carry the workload.

Kansas City Chiefs: Don’t let the 0-2 start fool you as this Kansas City Chiefs team was only one play away from beating the Denver Broncos last week at Mile High. With that being said, they have lost two straight and the team is currently littered with injuries as they will be without Derrick Johnson, Jamaal Charles, and possibly Eric Berry this Sunday.

Alex Smith has not looked very good thus far this season, throwing for three interceptions and only one touchdown. If he plans on digging his team out of the 0-2 hole, he will need to put up better numbers moving forward. With the Dolphins having a weak linebacking corps, expect big plays down the middle to Travis Kelce and Dwayne Bowe.

The Chiefs will also need to rely on their offensive line as Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake is looking to bounce back from a poor Week 2 in Buffalo.

Prediction

The Chiefs seem like a demoralized team at this point, and that is not a good thing to say in September. With the poor play of Alex Smith thus far and serious injuries happening left and right, it will be hard for the team to turn the momentum around. I expect the Miami Dolphins and Ryan Tannehill to rebound at home from a poor game in Buffalo and hand the Chiefs their third loss of the season.

Final Score: Miami Dolphins: 21, Kansas City Chiefs: 10
