Robert Griffin III will not undergo ankle surgery; out 4-6 weeks
By Josh Hill
The second week of the NFL season was a brutal one in terms of injuries as some big names went down and will be out for the foreseeable future. One of those players was Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, who suffered a dislocated ankle in the win over the Jacksonville Jaguars and is now facing serious time on the bench.

Initially it was feared that Griffin would be lost for the season but that has since be reduced significantly to around half that time. Head coach Jay Gruden addressed the injury on Thursday and noted that Griffin will not be having surgery to repair his ankle and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
This is both good news and bad news for the Redskins as it means that there’s a good chance Griffin comes back this season. But what it also means is that there’s a heavy risk of him not being healthy when he returns which could result in yet another setback.
Griffin has made a career out of having setbacks so far as his rookie season ended with a torn ACL, he rushed back from that and was benched in his second season and now has a dislocated ankle in his third. While he’s a major part of the future, Griffin’s health needs to be of more concern than when he’s coming back.
