ESPN’s Outside The Lines released a bombshell report on Friday, detailing just how unbelievably poorly the Baltimore Ravens handled Ray Rice’s domestic dispute.

One of the stranger revelations in the piece is that the Ravens actually offered Rice a job immediately after releasing him from the football team in September.

Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti to Rice over text:

"Hey Ray, just want to let you know, we loved you as a player, it was great having you here. Hopefully all these things are going to die down. I wish the best for you and Janay. When you’re done with football, I’d like you to know you have a job waiting for you with the Ravens helping young guys getting acclimated to the league."

Confused? So was Rice. OTL says Rice “was flabbergasted,” considering Bisscioti had just released a statement calling Rice’s actions “violent and horrifying.”

OTL asked the Ravens about the text messages.

"The team did not deny Bisciotti had sent them: “His text messages to Ray reflect his belief that everyone is capable of redemption and that others, including players, can learn from Ray’s experience.”"

What a strange development to an already insane story. Why the Ravens would fire Rice and then make an attempt to re-hire him moments later is almost hard to fathom.

But as OTL’s piece illustrates, the Ravens did little right in handling of this whole ordeal.
