The Denver Broncos travel to Seattle on Sunday to play the Seahawks in a Super Bowl rematch, which of course prompts many to harken back to last February when the Seahawks stormed the Broncos for an easy win. One of the defining plays of that game was an early hit laid on Demaryius Thomas by Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor. It was credited as having set the tone for the team’s dominating 43-8 performance. Just don’t tell that to Thomas, who rewatched the video recently and had something to say about it.

“Nah, it’s just a hit,” Thomas said per ESPN.com. You play football, you’re gonna get hit. It didn’t bother me; I got up and kept playing.”

Thomas did go on to tally 13 catches for 118 yards and a touchdown. It’s easy to say the Broncos as a whole were rattled by anything and everything that happened on Super Bowl Sunday, but it’s much less easy to say with conviction that the hit changed Thomas’ approach.

While Thomas did return to the sideline to get his shoulder checked out, it didn’t keep him out for the Super Bowl as he returned for a record-setting performance in catches. This Sunday, Thomas will hope to bury those memories and help vault the Broncos to 3-0 while exacting some revenge on Chancellor and the Seahawks.
